@GBBF2019 – Come See Us At Olympia

With less than a week to go to the start of The Great British Beer Festival, we took the opportunity to ask our Head Honcho Gregg some beer related questions to get us in the mood for this year’s big beer event.

If you are planning a trip down to the big smoke, you’ll find us representing Cheshire at the Tatton Brewery Bar B15 from 5pm on 6th August until close of play on Saturday 9th August. You can get yourself a ticket from gbbf.org.uk/tickets

For Trade customers, there is an additional session from 12 noon on Tuesday 6th – find out more here gbbf.org.uk/tickets/trade-session

See you at the bar!

Can you describe your brewery in three words?

No – but I can in four…’beer you can trust’

What are your personal favourite styles of beer?

Boring brown bitter, Cascadian Dark Ale.

Which of your beers is the biggest fan favourite/most popular?

Fan Favourite : Lazy Haze – a tea-honey-fruit fantasyMost Popular : Tatton Blonde – a finely-hopped Trans-Atlantic pale ale.

Which of your beers would you recommend to a first-timer at your bar?

For a traditional drinker – Tatton Best – a perfectly-tuned traditional best bitter.

If you’re looking for something with a  contemporary slant then try our XPA, a light pint of hop magic that guarantees a bright start to your day. (Marketing Dept. : Don’t forget to tell them it’s “juicy”).

Best beer snack?

More beer! Or, if you must, a pickled egg and a pork pie.

If you could get one music artist/celebrity to represent your brewery, who would best fit your business and ethos?

Terry Pratchett. His sense of humour and understanding of the human condition really resonates with me – he also writes stimulating equal-opportunity female characters – The Wyrd Sisters, Monstrous Regiment, Tiffany Aching.

Quintessential Terry Pratchett beery quote : “Quaffing is just like drinking, except you spill more.”

If you could make a beer using any flavours, and guarantee that it be delicious, which flavours would you love to use

Garlic. In my household, there is no such thing as “too much garlic”. I have had garlic beer. I have not had a good garlic beer. Yet.

What are you looking forward to at GBBF this summer?

Great variety, top quality, no duff beers.

What makes GBBF special, and what has motivated you to come this year?

It is a great gathering of beer brewers, beer drinkers, and beer odd-bods. We thought we should shine the light of Cheshire’s finest beers down in the dark city.

What exciting things does your brewery have coming up?

We’ll be employing a cocktail mixologist as chef de brew.

Knutsford Beer Festival Raises the Bar!

We’re so proud to be part of this year’s Knutsford Beer Festival, who have announced that they raised £10,000 – their biggest total yet! Around 1,000 people attended the event at The Courthouse right in the centre of the town, which was commented as being “The poshest beer festival in the UK!”.

The two charities – Knutsford Royal May Day & Children’s Adventure Farm Trust – will each receive £4,500 and the remaining £1,000 will create a community fund that is open for local charities to apply for smaller grants throughout the year.

Tatton Brewery was at the heart of the festival with both Claire, Gregg and Nicky involved in getting the festival up and running – over the weekend guests were invited to try a range of Tatton regular and seasonal ales. We also ran a masterclass for them on the Saturday afternoon, where the highlight was a beer ice-cream float, which went down a storm.

When finding out just how successful the event had been, Gregg commented, “A delight to work with the KBF krew again, and see how hard they work to earn that marvellous moolah for charity. I hand-crafted a quick back-of-a-beer-mat cost/benefit analysis myself and it resolved down to this artisanal equation : Beer = Happiness. I think we can all agree on that.”

We’re already looking forward to the next one!
